Enjoying the sun with Yetti

This past week we had to put one of our cats down.  It was really sad and upsetting.  Dax was our black male cat that I had from a kitten for about 16 years.  He started dropping weight but was still eating and drinking water, then last Monday he started puking white foam all day.  When we noticed it was a bit pinky we took him to the Emergency Animal Hospital.  The doctor told us he had a large tumor in his upper ab.  With the vet's advice we decided to put him down.  It was an upsetting night. The house feels a little bit empty despite having four more cats and a guinea pig(who tends to be louder than all four cats together).

This past weekend I decided to let Yetti out on the deck for the afternoon for some fresh air.
  Even though we have been in this house for almost 2 years this the first time Yetti has enjoyed the outdoors. My initial  plan was to have chicken wire enclosure for her to be free to eat grass and clover, but we live in a condo townhouse and are not in charge of the lawn care.  So I do not know what the lawn care company uses on the the grass.

I have been a guinea pig owner most of my life.  I got my first one when I was in grade 7 for Christmas, and have had one ever since(except for the five years I lived in British Columbia).

Aside from hanging out with the pets and working I have been working hard with my sister preparing for her baby shower coming up this Sunday.  It will be a big family BBQ and landscaping her backyard has been the biggest job especially making sure that her backyard was finished and open enough to entertain over 30 guess.  I love working outdoors and gardening BUT I have to say I am excited not to be tied up on my free day working on her backyard.

I still have been able to thrift a bit too, and have found some cool stuff. We found 2 more of the Eden wall board.
They were a buck each from the Goodwill!  They will go on my bedroom wall with the other one I found before.
I found her at Value Village for 4 dollars.  I found 2 scarfs one from Japan the other from France. Pretty!
Plus some fun puzzles and kids books.  We booked off a week in the beginning of July for holidays and plan on doing some thrifting road trips around southern Ontario.  I can't wait, we both need a break to just chill and enjoy life.

Board Games: Scat Cat

This week we picked up a new board game: Scat Cat.  Ever heard of it?  I never seen this game before but we couldn't resits the cats on the cover. It's a Tomy/Parker bros. game, no date on it. What a cool cover!  The game looks really simple to play. For ages 5 and up. The instruction are easy to follow and are written on the bottom of the box.  "Players choose a crazy little cat, place it at the base of the slide.  Someone says "go", and the action begins.  Each player hits his lever and tries to make his cat scat to the top before anyone else.  Be careful though, if you hit the lever too hard and your cat falls off or goes right over the top, you must start again from the bottom.  The cats keep scatting while the little mice keep score.  First one to reach the top 4 times wins!" Sounds fun!  Can't wait to play. Favorite cat on the cover, "the gangster". Have a great weekend everyone!!

Day Trippin' - Woodstock

I can't believe it's Friday already!  This week has gone by too fast.  I guess it always does when your on holidays.  Bob and I took the week off just to hang out, clean and unpack.  Also to go on day trips.  Monday we drove to Woodstock(Ontario).  Why Woodstock?  Well we have been there a couple of times for The Nostalgia shows.  We always drove by a bunch of thrift stores and second hand shop.  Plus last year they opens an antique shop call "One of a Kind" which was still so new when we went that it looked like a big mess. Our first stops were some of the shop on the downtown strip, which included a consignment store, a comic shop, a bookstore and a gaming store.  Bob found a few things, me - nothing. Then we hit the Bible for Missions.  What a plethora of stuffs.  We must of spent at least 3 hours in there.  So much good stuff.  I love sewing supplies and patterns and found some nice vintage fabrics and patterns.  We picked up 2 framed embroidery art piec

Board Games: The Great Turtle Race

While checking out my usual thrift stops last week, I came across this great gem.  The Great Turtle Race.  This board game is in great shape with all the pieces included. It is a Parker Bro. game. Made in Canada from 1976. Ages 3 to 10. Here is a Canadian commerical in french. You get 3 plastic turtles a spinner and the board you use is the inside bottom part of the the box.  It's a bright pretty colorful box.  The board inside also spins when the turtle goes on "wake-up" mode. We played with my 6yr old niece. She loved it, thought it was fun and silly.
